Mother's Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of all mothers in society. Mothers are the glue that keeps the family together, especially this being our second celebration of Mom during COVID-19.

Plan a Family Photoshoot
A picture can say 1000 words. Capture this Mother’s Day by planning a family photoshoot. Plan ahead and contact some photographers to get an idea of pricing and find out if they are the right fit for what you are looking to do. Not wanting to hire a photographer? No problem! See if someone from your social bubble would be available to help out and take photos for you, or if you want to keep it even simpler here’s some tricks to getting great pictures:
Take turns: maybe someone in your family is great with taking pictures, so plan some shots ahead so everyone knows what to expect
For the group shots: this is my favourite “life hack;” put your camera to video mode and ensure everyone can be seen on the screen in some different poses. Have anything you need, like stools, chairs, props, etc. ready available. Once you are ready to go, just press record! For each pose, hold for at least 5-10 seconds so that everyone has a chance to get themselves set up. Once you have finished everything, stop the recording. When you open up the video timeline, press pause and scroll your way through the video and screenshot the images that you like the best from it! It will look like you have had professional pictures done and best of all will create laughter and memories for years to come.
Get together in the garden
Gardening time is quality time! Spend the day outside with Mom and help her get her gardens ready. Take a trip to your local greenhouse and pick out some herbs, vegetables, flowers, whatever Mom likes! Get creative and decorate some flower pots together to give your plants a colourful and fun place to grow - just like growing up at home as a kid.

Have a "Paint & Sip" Day
Is your mom a creative type? Someone who enjoys getting their hands messy? Why not set up a “Paint & Sip” class from the comfort of your own living room! Start by doing some research - what kind of painting will you do? What supplies do you need? There are lots of online tutorials for painting, so find one that you think mom will like! As well, if you aren’t sure how to get started, check out this link for some helpful hints:
Lots of stores are doing curbside pickup, so check out your local art supplies stores and see if there is one around you that you can get everything from. Then, support a local winery and pick up some of Mom’s favourite wines. Put together a charcuterie board, pour everyone a glass, pick up your brush, and paint away! Make a Delicious Dinner
Give mom a night off from cooking and treat her to something delicious. Whip up one of her favourite meals, or surprise her with something totally new. If you aren’t a culinary master, check out your local restaurants and see what they are offering for a Mother’s Day special. No matter what it is, Mom will love it. Finish the night off by doing the dishes and enjoying the rest of Mom’s day with her.
